Hoodoo Voodoo is an old fashioned action movie, written and produced by four South Albertans, to be presented at film festivals across North America. The film, shot in HD in Alberta’s badlands, on a budget of $25,000, is a throwback to early action movies from the 70s and 80s. Drawing inspiration from other genres such as westerns, film noir, Korean action movies, and Japanese samurai films, Hoodoo Voodoo stays fresh by twisting them all together into a tight, modern package.

By building intensity through carefully choreographed sequences, the filmmakers craft a unique stylistic approach, that will be both memorable and entertaining. From a duel with a grizzled old gunfighter to a deadly sword battle with a mysterious one-eyed samurai, each sequence is as unique as the characters themselves

Hoodoo Voodoo’s story follows an ex soldier who has turned his back on a life of death and destruction. In an attempt to retreat into a secluded and peaceful existence, he witnesses a mob hit and finds himself caught between corrupt cops and a criminal organization that spans the globe. Up against some of the most dangerous mercenaries on the planet, he has to rely upon his lethal skills to survive and in the process come face to face with his violent past.

As its name implies, Hoodoo Voodoo takes place in the Alberta badlands. The dry, rugged landscape provides the perfect backdrop for the story being told. With its harsh desert like conditions, the stunning scenery acts as another antagonist the hero must overcome.

\While showcasing a breathtaking landscape that is truly Alberta’s own, Hoodoo Voodoo will have a story interesting and universal enough to appeal to audiences well beyond the province’s borders.
